Submission Guidelines.
Final Print accepts the following originals: photographic prints (up to 8.5 x 14), 35mm slides, transparencies slides, negatives and oversized are subject to additional charges. Please take special care when supplying us with your originals: slides should be in proper sleeves and photographs in envelopes with cardboard. Be sure to put your name on everything.
For digital submissions we can accept flash drives, CD's and Emailed files. Please Avoid re-writeable CDs and we strongly suggest you Do NOT send us your only copy. The files we prefer are 300DPI .eps, .psd., .pdf or .tiff, though other formats can work as well. Please beware of JPEG encoding - it induces artifacts and should be used sparingly. The programs used to design are Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Illustrator CS5, and Adobe InDesign CS5.
For black and white files, please convert them to grayscale. For 4-color press, convert to CMYK. For digital color output, convert to RGB. Scanned text should be at 1200 dpi. Be sure to include the (Mac) fonts or outline the text and compress everything into a zip file. We can accept e-mail attachments of unlimited size! If you can send it, we can get it.
A "bleed" is when the image goes completely to the edge of the paper. Why it's called a "bleed" is unknown to us. During printing, a bleed is done by printing the image larger than the finished size and trimming the edge. Therefore, if you want the image to run off the edge of the page, you must supply some extra. For example, for an 8" x 10" finished size picture that bleeds off all four sides, you must supply a file that is 8.25" x 10.25". We can resize your files but there may be an additional fee.
