Final Print accepts the following originals: photographic prints (up to 8.5 x 14), 35mm slides, transparencies. Slides, negatives and oversized are subject to additional charges. Please take special care when supplying us with your originals: slides should be in proper sleeves and photographs in envelopes with cardboard. Be sure to put your name on everything.
For digital submissions we can accept 250MB Zip disks, CD-ROMs and
Emailed files. Avoid re-writeable CDs. Do NOT send us your only copy. The files we prefer are 300dpi .tiff,
though other formats can work as well. Please beware of JPEG encoding - it
induces artifacts and should be used sparingly. The programs used are Adobe
Photoshop(6, 7, and CS2), Adobe Illustrator(9, CS2) and QuarkXpress(5.0, 6.0). We can now accept InDesign files at this time but Pagemaker is obsolete, though we can print
from it (6.5).
For black and white files, please convert them to grayscale. For 4-color
press, convert to CMYK. For digital color output, convert to RGB. Scanned
text should be at 1200 dpi. Be sure to include the (Mac) fonts and compress
everything into a neat package using either Stuffit or Zip. We can accept
e-mail attachments of unlimited size! If you can send it, we can get it.
A "bleed" is when the image goes completely to the edge of the paper. Why
it's called a "bleed" is unknown to us. During printing, a bleed is done by
printing the image larger than the finished size and trimming the edge.
Therefore, if you want the image to run off the edge of the page, you must
supply some extra. For example, for an 8" x 10" finished size picture that
bleeds off all four sides, you must supply a file that is 8.25" x 10.25".
We can resize your stuff, but you may not like it. Contact
our office for our email address.
